Larson's colorful panels bring Madeleine L'Engle's brilliant time-travel favorite to life in an exciting new way. This is page-turning eye candy of the highest order." --James Patterson The world already knows Meg and Charles Wallace Murry, Calvin O'Keefe, and the three Mrs--Who, Whatsit, and Which--the memorable and wonderful characters who fight off a dark force and save our universe in the Newbery Award-winning classic A Wrinkle in Time . The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and the complete seven-audiobook set of the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis plus The Screwtape Letters and Screwtape Proposes a Toast. This edition collects the entirety of C.S. Lewis's most celebrated fictional series, The Chronicles of Narnia, together in a single tome. The series transports the listener to Narnia, an original world created from ancient legends, child-like fancies, and adult reflections. The resulting stories appeal to adults and children alike.

CHRIS PINE: (As Mr. Murry) And our most recent calculations show us that these fields connect us to other dimensions, dimensions outside of the limitations of space and time. Imagine that - imagine. Rather than enduring the oppressive rules of time and space, we could wrinkle it - 91 billion light years traveled like that.

MONDELLO: Director Ava DuVernay has a light touch with these early scenes, though she gets seriously bogged down in special effects as the film goes on. In 1962 when "A Wrinkle In Time" was published, critics noted the Christian theology of author Madeleine L'Engle, comparing her to "Narnia" creator C.S. Lewis and wondered if the book's challenge to conformity could be read as a Cold War allegory about communism. No one's likely to do that this time. As presented in the movie, the film's themes of light and dark would be right at home in Oz - there's even a tornado - as would its sentiments about heart, brains and courage, all of which Meg has quite a lot of, as played fiercely by Storm Reid.

Adventure is calling, especially to your middle graders and older readers, and these thrilling audiobooks will take their eager listeners from the bottom of the sea to the top of the mountain and everywhere in between!

Listening to audiobooks while driving is one of the best tips I have for anyone wanting to plan a great family road trip. Entertaining on the road is super important to keep everyone happy so make sure to have some of these stories to listen to in the car.

We will list here some of the bestseller audiobooks for family road trips. They are all child friendly but I have tried to separate them by age group so you can peruse the ones that suit your kids age first.

One of the best funny audiobooks. It is told in a humorous way full of wit and mischief that any kid will love. Yet it speaks about important family values and how willpower and education can help overcome life struggles.

J.K Rowling does such a great job getting the reader absorbed in the story and for the audio book it is no different. After one book you will want to listen to the next. The stories stories can be enjoyed by children as young as 6 years old, especially true for the first 3 books. The last couple of books will be best suited for older children.

This is a highly rated first book from Jeanne Birdsall set in the Berkshire Mountains. One of the best adventure audiobooks, it tells the story of the Penderwick family and their three week vacation. Birdsall transports us to the scene effortlessly by vivid text and series of minor/major conflicts.

The books below need parental guidance (pg rated audiobooks) meaning that they main contain language and stories that parents might not like for their young children to listen to (such as curse words or violence).

Graphic novels are very popular, and especially appealing to readers who may not pick up a more traditional book on their own. Readers are drawn to the lively, easy-to-follow storylines, the action found in many graphic novels, and the accessible text. The pictures in graphic novels are expressive, simple, and rich all at the same time. The images provide big clues about character and plot and encourage readers to look closely.

Audiobooks offer an easy, convenient way for families to explore new stories together, whether snuggled at home on a rainy day or on a road trip. Even if you've read a book before, audiobook versions feature performances by narrators or full casts, music, and sound effects that add another layer to stories and help listeners notice things they may have missed during a first reading. Listening together is also an easy way for parents and kids to discuss what they've heard and, according a study by the Audio Publishers Association, audiobooks can even help improve vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and language acquisition.

Here, we've rounded up audiobooks of stories written for kids ages two and up, though many of them are favorites of adults, too. From classics like Charlotte's Web and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz to new favorites like Wonder and The Inquisitor's Tale, you're bound to find an audiobook the whole family will love to listen to. You can find them through services like Audible or Libro, but check your local library. Many have a robust collection of audiobooks to download for free.

The rhyming, sing-song verses of Dr. Seuss books lend themselves to audiobooks perfectly. One of our favorites is Green Eggs and Ham narrated by Jason Alexander, whose silly voices make this classic book about trying new things a joy to listen to.

Author Julia Donaldson's enchanting story about a witch who is often loses things (but finds animal friends along the way) offers a lesson in friendship and loyalty kids will love, especially around Halloween. The audiobook, narrated by Josie Lawrence, features sound effects and music, too.

"It was a dark and stormy night." So begins Madeleine L'Engle's middle grade, science fiction epic A Wrinkle in Time, the first of the author's Time Quintet Series. Narrated by Hope Davis, the audiobook is perfect for a long road trip as first-time listeners won't want to wait to find out what happens next.

Jerry Craft won the Newbery Medal, Coretta Scott King Author Award, and the Kirkus Prize for Young Readers' Literature for his graphic novel, New Kid. It tells the story of Jordan Banks, a cartoon-loving seventh grader and one of the few students of color at an elite private school, who must figure out how to balance life at his new school with family and friends in his neighborhood of Washington Heights. Performed by a full cast, the audiobook also includes original music and sound effects.

You won't want to press pause on Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book which begins with the line, "There was a hand in the darkness, and it held a knife." This audiobook version features a full cast performance of the Newbery Medal winning novel, with characters voiced by Miriam Margolyes, Derek Jacobi, and more.

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to keep them from...feeling really, really bored on a long road trip. Fans of the cult-favorite Tolkien trilogy will be thrilled to know that it, too, has gotten the audiobook treatment. Nearly as spellbinding as the books themselves, we think this version is perfect for fans of all ages.

While the title will no doubt remind Whovians of the Doctor's wife, River Song, the book's plot (a woman who marries a man who has a genetic disorder that causes him to be displaced in time) hews closer to the tale of Sally Sparrow (from "Blink") and her detective love interest, as well as that of Amy and Rory's final fate. Order it here.

The first book in Fforde's Thursday Next series sees literary characters go missing from their respective novels (including Jane Eyre) prompting Special Operative in literary detection Thursday Next to get on the case. This madcap adventure in a world where literary devices are quite real, and time travel and cloning are quite common, feels right up the pinstriped sleeve of the Tenth Doctor himself! Order it here.

The Time Museum by Matthew Loux (GRAPHIC NOVEL) Delia interns at the Time Museum, a time travel museum where she and other kids her age compete for a permanent spot with the museum in this sci-fi graphic novel. A sinister time traveler forces the group to work together to stop permanent damage to the world and the time museum. My 11-year old thought this book was awesome. 2ff7e9595c
